It is your mission as a professional salesperson to ask for the order. There is no sadder sight to see than a salesperson without a close. It is like taking a shower with a raincoat on-- it just doesn't work.
Go ahead and close, both during and at the end of your presentation. One way to eliminate the fear of closing is repetition. Practice your closes over and over. This will build your confidence and break the barrier of fear. Remember, it generally takes 7 "no" answers to get to that coveted "yes". Expect to be told "no". Hope to be told "no". Each one gets you closer to your goal.
No matter what your product or service is, customers expect to be asked to buy something. Don't disappoint them. More important, don't disappoint yourself.
